Why are some actions unavailable for federated datasets?

Edited

Some actions, such as adding sources or processors, are not available for federated datasets. This is because a federated dataset is a live view of a dataset maintained in another Huwise workspace.

Data collection, processing, and updates remain managed in the source dataset. As such, the Add a new source button is unavailable (as in the image here), and the Processing tab is simply not displayed.

Federations are useful when you want to make an existing dataset available in your catalog while continuing to receive updates from its source. And you can still filter the records and configure your own metadata and visualizations.

When you need to combine additional sources or transform the data using processors, create a locally managed dataset instead.
