Exploring the asset page

Edited

The asset page is the second step in the data discovery journey. It’s where you evaluate whether the asset truly meets your needs. This page gives you detailed information about the asset and helps you decide what to do next—explore it further, download it, or connect it to another tool.

While the layout may vary slightly depending on the asset, every asset page includes the following key sections:

  1. Header with the navigation path, asset title, asset category and last modification date.

  2. Call-to-action buttons (on the right) let you use the asset in different ways. The primary action button stands out visually. It may vary depending on the asset, but the order of buttons stays consistent across all assets.

  3. Information panel on the right summarizes key metadata such as theme, creator, modification date, key contact, and technical identifier. Depending on the setup, it may also include quick-access action buttons.

The technical identifier is a unique internal ID assigned to each asset. It ensures consistent referencing across the platform—for example, when the asset is used in APIs or visualizations. You can think of it as the asset’s digital fingerprint: it never changes, even if the asset’s title or description is updated.

  4. Main content section always includes a description summarizing the asset’s content and purpose. Depending on the asset, you may also see:

    • Up to five preview images to give you a visual overview.

    • A collapsible metadata section displaying all associated metadata. If multiple templates are used, metadata may appear in tabs, grouped sections, or a single alphabetical list.

    • Similar assets, suggested by an AI algorithm based on relevance.

    • Attachments, which may include related files or documentation.

    • Showcases, standalone assets built from the portal’s data.

Remember that the arrangement of these elements can differ slightly from one asset to another.
